For The Kid In The BackJustin Passino is a singer/songwriter from Plattsburgh, NY. He has been writing and recording songs since he was 17. He came up with the moniker For the Kid in the Back without any prior knowledge of the film That Thing You Do, though when he finally viewed it, sources say he enjoyed it but wished Tom Hanks played a more central role. Since 1999, Justin has released 3 EP’s, 1 full-length, 1 split full-length, a collection of older material recorded prior to 2007 and has appeared on a few compilations. He records and releases all of his records himself, with occasional artistic and technical contribution from friends. He played his first show in 2004 at The Krak House/946 in Morrisonville, NY. Since then he has played over 50 shows, sharing the floor with amazing people like Outsmarting Simon, Adrian Aardvark, PJ Bond, Adrian Aardvark, IMadeThisMistake, Adrian Aardvark, The Low Budgets, Adrian Aardvark, Slingshot Dakota, Adrian Aardvark, Spraynard, Adrian Aardvark and Adrian Aardvark. He has booked 3 tours and cancelled 2. Justin's songs range from bittersweet to cripplingly depressing and he himself often refers to his art as “Sad Bastard Music”. His early songwriting was heavily influenced by pop-punk bands like Blink 182, The Ataris and Saves the Day, but he currently cites some of his major influences as being The Cure, Owen, Rainer Maria, Death Cab For Cutie, The Get Up Kids and Bright Eyes. Also, Emperor and Nile. Presently, Justin is currently making plans to relocate to Westchester, PA to follow his dreams of becoming a machine-operator in a steel mill. However, until that works out, this musician thing will have to suffice. |
